About John Juzek Instruments and Lutherie Tools
In the early 20th Century, a talented Czech luthier name Janek (John in English) Juzek began to make his mark on the stringed instrument world. Mr. Juzek was extremely prolific, with a keen eye and excellent attention to detail. When his brother, Robert, immigrated to New York and started what today is called Metropolitan Music Co., he gained a worldwide audience for his high-quality violins, violas, celli, and basses. Word began to spread and the business grew.
When Robert Juzek died in 1975, his son, Bob Juzek (né Robert Juzek; born 1938) became the president. Metropolitan Music Co. is now managed by Bob's two sons, Rob and Adam, the third-generation family of the founder.
Metropolitan Music is today, known by serious luthiers as the maker of the finest lutherie tools (e.g. planes, chisels, clamps, setup tools, etc.) available at any price.
The default setup is Contemporary Orchestral Violin. There are numerous other setup options. See Setup Options or click on the "Setup Options for Violins and Fiddles" link on the left for detailed descriptions of these options.
